Questions
FAQ
What inputs does this calculator use?
Development cost (one-time build), monthly operating costs (hosting, APIs, tools), projected monthly active users, your paid conversion rate (%), and average revenue per paying user.
How is ROI calculated?
Year-1 ROI = ((Year-1 Revenue − Total Year-1 Costs) / Total Year-1 Costs) × 100. Break-even = Development Cost ÷ (MRR − Monthly Ops Cost).
What conversion rate is realistic for SaaS?
Freemium products typically convert 2–5% of free users to paid. Direct sales / inbound leads convert 10–20%. The default of 5% is a reasonable starting point.
Is this for subscription or one-time revenue?
The calculator assumes subscription / recurring revenue (MRR model). For one-time purchases, set the ARPU to the average order value and adjust expectations accordingly.
