Founder & Lead Engineer

Hey, I'm Zahid Ghotia.

Self-taught full-stack developer. Founder of WeBuildCrew. Builder of websites, SaaS platforms, marketplaces, AI systems and automation bots. Based in Pakistan, trusted by clients in 20+ countries.

I didn't take the conventional path — and that's exactly why I understand what it takes to build something real from nothing.

My story

Where it all started.

I grew up with a deep curiosity about how things worked — especially software. But curiosity alone doesn't pay bills. I had no formal CS degree, no industry connections, no expensive bootcamp. What I had was an internet connection, YouTube, and a refusal to quit.

I taught myself HTML, then CSS, then JavaScript — one error message at a time. I built ugly websites that nobody asked for, just to learn. I broke things, fixed them, broke them again. Every Stack Overflow answer I read felt like levelling up in a game where no one tells you the rules.

When I signed up on Upwork for the first time, I sent over 100 proposals before landing my first project — a small business website for $50. It took me three days. The client left a 5-star review. That review was worth more than the money. It was proof that someone across the world would trust a developer from Pakistan with their business.

From there, I stopped asking for permission. I outworked the doubt, outperformed the expectations, and kept building — SaaS platforms, marketplaces, AI-powered tools, Telegram bots, mobile apps. Each project made the next one easier. Each client who returned told me I was doing something right.

💬

“The hardest part wasn't learning to code. It was believing I was worth hiring before anyone had hired me yet.”

There were nights I almost gave up. Proposals ignored. Clients who disappeared after getting the first draft. Projects where I worked 14 hours straight because I'd underestimated the scope. Slow internet during client demos. Timezone gaps that meant a 2am reply or a missed message.

None of that broke me. Because every single struggle taught me something a textbook couldn't. How to set proper expectations. How to scope accurately. How to build systems that don't collapse under pressure. How to be the kind of developer that clients talk about to their friends.

The struggle built the engineer. And the engineer built WeBuildCrew.

The journey

Year by year.

  1. 2018

The beginning — zero experience, infinite curiosity

I picked up my first programming book and started watching YouTube tutorials late into the night. No computer science degree, no mentor, no roadmap. Just a laptop, slow internet and a stubborn belief that this was possible.

  2. 2019

First websites — learning by building

Built small websites for local businesses for almost nothing. Every project exposed another gap in my knowledge. Learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, then React. Failed fast, fixed fast. Each bug was a lesson I couldn't get from a classroom.

  3. 2020

Upwork & Fiverr — the real test begins

Submitted 100+ proposals before landing my first paid gig — $50 for a website that took me three days. That $50 wasn't money. It was proof. A stranger across the world had trusted me with their business. I worked twice as hard on the second project.

  4. 2021

Upwork Top Rated — earning trust at scale

Crossed 50 projects delivered. Earned Top Rated status on Upwork. Stopped competing on price and started competing on quality. Clients began returning for their second and third projects. Referrals started coming without asking.

  5. 2022

SaaS, marketplaces, AI — levelling up the stack

Pushed beyond websites into full-stack SaaS platforms, multi-vendor marketplaces, Telegram bots and AI integrations. Built a real estate portal for a UAE client, a marketplace for a UK startup, a SaaS dashboard for a US company. Code got sharper. Scopes got bigger.

  6. 2023

    WeBuildCrew is born

Formalised the team and brand under WeBuildCrew. The mission: deliver agency-quality work with the speed, honesty and direct communication that only a founder-led team can offer. No middlemen, no account managers, no guesswork.

  7. 2024 – 25

150+ projects, 20+ countries, no signs of stopping

WeBuildCrew now serves clients across the US, UK, UAE, Europe, Australia and beyond. Still code-first, still founder-led, still obsessed with shipping clean, scalable products that clients are proud to show off.

My values

What I believe in.

These aren't marketing words. They're how I actually work — and what every client can hold me to.

🔥

Obsess over craft

Code is not just a tool — it's a craft. I care deeply about architecture, readability and maintainability. I write code I'd be proud to open-source.

🤝

Keep every promise

If I commit to a deadline, I hit it. If I quote a price, I hold it. If I say I'll fix something, I fix it. Trust is built in small moments — and I protect it.

📞

Communicate like a human

No ghosting, no vague updates, no corporate language. Real progress reports, honest timelines, and a reply within hours — not days. You always know where your project stands.

💡

Think like a founder

I don't just build what you ask for — I think about why you're building it. I'll flag a better approach, push back on bad ideas, and celebrate wins like it's my own product.

🚀

Ship fast, iterate faster

Done is better than perfect. I deliver MVPs that work, learn from real users, then iterate. Waiting 6 months to launch is usually the most expensive mistake a startup makes.

📈

Stay for the long run

A project isn't done at launch. It's done when it's growing. I stay available, keep systems updated, and treat every client as a long-term partner — not a one-off invoice.

🌍

“Where you start doesn't define where you finish. The only thing that matters is whether you kept going when it was hardest.”

— Zahid Ghotia

I built this business from a single desk, with no safety net. If you're building your startup or business from scratch too — I genuinely get it. That shared understanding is why clients come back.
